Pakistan granted Host Country Approval to twenty five (25) CDM projects.


Eight (08) CDM Projects from Pakistan registered with CDM Executive Board.


A Delegation of 14 Pakistani Members Attented the CDM Training Workshop at Beijing China from 29th November to 6th December 2009.

Ministry of Environment, Government of Pakistan is the Designated National Authority for Clean Development Mechanism in Pakistan

 

   Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding cooperation for the realization of CDM
   projects between the Ministry of Environment of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and    CAMCO International.

 

   Background.

 
Ministry of Environment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on CDM with CAMCO International on 8th August 2008. The MoU aims at mutual cooperation for the realization of Clean Development Mechanism projects in Pakistan. CAMCO International is a leading carbon asset developer with one of the world's largest carbon credit portfolios. CAMCO generates carbon credits by pertaining with governments and companies to identify develop and manage projects that reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions.

 

 Objectives of MoU.

 

The cooperation under the framework of this Memorandum aims at supporting the development and realization of CDM projects in accordance with Article 12 of the Kyoto Protocol in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Both parties commit to actively support the development of CDM projects, to strengthening the framework for these projects in Pakistan and to identify new ways and opportunities for a wide ranging implementation of the concept of CDM. The MoU enables Pakistan to consult CAMCO International for exchanging information for promotion of projects under the CDM.

 

 Activities Envisaged in MoU.

 

CAMCO International will support with Ministry of Environment in its capacity building activities by bringing in international experience in the preparation, implementation and operation of CDM projects. CAMCO International will advise the Ministry of Environment on how to implement programmatic CDM projects under the guidelines approved by the CDM Executive Board.

 

 Expected Benefits.

 

Signing of this MoU is expected to promote capacity building, development of CDM projects and strengthening the framework for these projects and identify new ways and opportunities for a wide ranging implementation of the concept of CDM in Pakistan.
